Pied tail-pipers: kill rats and selves

Pied tail-pipers: kill rats and selves

Three people have died in Ukraine after trying to rid their home of a rat infestation. Unwilling to spend money on an exterminator, they used exhaust from their car.

The villagers used a hose to direct poisonous gases released by their ZAZ-968 into the rodent-ridden cellar, Ukrainian emergencies services said.

What they failed to notice was that exhaust fumes are as bad for humans as they are for rats.

The hose owners decided to wait for the results inside and lost consciousness when there was no longer enough oxygen in the air. Since there was nobody to help them, all three died of asphyxiation.
