Another Georgian town destalinized

De-Stalinization continues to spread across Georgia, this time in the town of Tkibuli.

A statue of the Soviet leader was removed there. It follows the removal of a giant statue of the former Soviet leader in the main square of the town of Gori, where Stalin was born.

Georgian media says that the monument was taken down late at night to avoid protests from local residents.

Stalin remains a popular historical figure for many people there. However, Georgian authorities say they also plan to rename streets and squares in the country which are called after him.
