Russian PM talks business with Ukrainian President

Having made a showy appearance at the international bike show in Ukraine, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin then got down to business and held talks with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich.

The leaders discussed trade links between the two countries, as well as cooperation in the energy sector, pipeline industry development and Ukraine’s gas transmission projects, as well as Russia’s possible involvement in them.

"Yes, there are contradictions between our enterprises and our ministries but these are everyday problems: we find mutually acceptable solutions," Putin stated after the meeting.

The Russian Prime Minister also pointed out that one of the aims of his visit was to personally congratulate Viktor Yanukovich on his birthday.

Afterwards the Prime Minister met up with journalists to answer a broad range of questions. One of the hottest issues the media wanted to know about was Putin’s meeting with the agents involved in the recent spy scandal between Russian and the US.
