Westerners and Muslims not yet found common tongue - journalist

Attempts to build a multicultural society in Germany have “completely failed”, said Chancellor Angela Merkel.

She believes immigrants need to make more of an effort to integrate, including learning the German language.

Her comments follow a number of recent anti-immigration statements from politicians in the country.

Western and Muslim culture will not mix peacefully, Dr Udo Ulfkotte, a German journalist told RT. “We have a clash not only of civilizations and religions, we have also a clash of ideologies.”

Dr Ulfkotte also believes that the economical problems Europe is now facing have been made worse by immigration. “The migrants in Germany have taken about one billion euros more out of our social welfare system than they have paid back. One billion euros.”

A recent survey in Germany showed that some thirty per cent of people feel the country is being taken over by foreigners.
