ATM scam takes pins, offers no cash

ATM scam takes pins, offers no cash

Getting cash may be difficult when a bank ATM machine is fake. One of the cash machines located at a shopping center in the Ukrainian capital Kiev appeared to be phoney, a local new agency reports.

According to a sign placed near the machine, people could get money without being charged fees when using cards issued by a number of banks operating in Ukraine. However, the machine did not give out cash. In fact, it did not have any money. As soon as customers inserted a bank card and punched in their pin number they were informed there is no connection with their bank and the card was returned. However, by that time the machine had saved the banking information including the pin-code.So far, it is not known how many people have had their card information stolen or for how long the fake ATM machine had been in operation.
