Gunfire in the south of Russia: 2 people dead

According to revised information, a police officer and a suspected militant are both reportedly dead after a gunfight in the Russian city of Neftekumsk, in the Northern Caucasus' region of Stavropol.

Law enforcement officials were at an address in the Stavropol region where suspects in a series of crimes were thought to be hiding.

The police had received a tip-off that a suspect was in the area.

Two others have been detained following the operation by special operations units.
