Russian Youth Olympians return home

Russian athletes have returned home from the inaugural Youth Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck, Austria, where the team managed an overall 5th place in the standings.

The country's junior athletes were greeted by hundreds of journalists, friends and relatives at Moscow's Domodedovo airport following their performance, which brought Russia a total of 5 gold, 4 silver and 7 bronze medals. The Russians trailed only to Germany in the overall medals count – 16 against Germany’s 17.On arrival in Moscow, figure skating champion and Russia’s hope for Sochi 2014 Elizaveta Tuktamysheva said she felt confident in Austria, and media pressure didn't really bother her.“I try not to think of the pressure, and just do my job by listening to my coach – and I fully trust him,” she said, adding: “I am confident that he knows what he is doing. So I am absolutely calm.”
