Nationalist to represent Russia in NATO?

A new candidate is being considered for the post of Russia's next permanent envoy to NATO, and nationalist politician Dmitry Rogozin is believed likely to take the post.

He became widely known in Russia as leader of the nationalist-patriotic bloc Rodina – or Motherland.

The party won more than 9% of the vote in 2003 parliamentary election.

The Russian State Duma's International Affairs Committee has given its unanimous support to Rogozin's appointment.

The Federation Council will give its verdict in five days.
