Guilty verdict upheld for Russian train bombers

The Russian Supreme Court has upheld a prison sentence for the men who bombed the Grozny-Moscow passenger train two years ago. The blast occurred in June 2005 in the Moscow region, causing the train to derail and injuring nine people.

Last April a Moscow Court found Vladimir Vlasov and Mikhail Klevachyov guilty of the bombing and sentenced them to 18 and 19 years respectively.

The defence appealed the sentence and asked for the case to return to court.

The latest decision means the accused will serve the original sentences which will start today.
