Spanish FM in Moscow for talks on OSCE reform

Miguel Angel Moratinos, the Spanish Foreign Minister and acting President of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, has arrived in Moscow for talks with Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov.

Discussions are set to focus on the reform of the OSCE, but Moratinos is also expected to offer assistance to Russia in the ongoing airspace dispute with Georgia.

Earlier Mr Moratinos spoke about the current row between Russia and Georgia during a two-day visit to Moscow.

Miguel Angel Moratinos said the main task now is to find ways of preventing similar incidents in the future.

“There has been a lot of speculation on the issue recently. I think we should be very careful before making any statements on that. I prefer to look to the future, not the past. Of course, we have to find out what happened there. We will be completely objective when investigating the issue. We'll get information from both sides. However, this is not the most important thing. We have to look to the future and not let such incidents happen again – this is our main task,” Mr Moratinos stressed.
