'Spiderman's' Moscow City climb cancelled

French urban climber Alain Robert, also known as Spiderman, is in Russia. He was preparing to tackle Europe's tallest building. However, the climb has been cancelled since, contrary to earlier reports, the organisers of the show couldn’t get authorisation

Nevertheless, it is still believed the show will not be cancelled completely, just delayed for a couple of days.

The climber told Russia Today he is very disappointed with this latest news.  

“I was prepared mentally and physically and now I am being told that I can’t make it because there is some problem with the official approval. As I understood, there is some approval from Russia, but it seems there is no any approval from the city of Moscow. Now there are a lot of people who are working very hard to get the approval for tomorrow,” Alain Robert said.  

Alain Robert had been planning to scale the western tower of the Moscow City Business Complex on Sunday using just his bare hands and climbing shoes.

In an earlier interview with Russia Today on Saturday, Alain Robert said he felt confident and the only thing worrying him about this latest challenge was the weather.

Alain Robert has tackled at least 70 giant structures around the world, including the Eiffel Tower and the Empire State Building, using no safety ropes – much to the excitement of crowds of people.

Much to the annoyance of various police forces, Spiderman has often attempted his feats without permission from the authorities and has been arrested around 100 times while tackling urban peaks.
