Dam collapse could kill 500,000 in Iraq: U.S. report
A U.S. report on Iraq says the country’s largest dam is at risk of imminent collapse that could unleash twenty metres of water on two major cities in the country. If the dam collapses it could kill as many as 500,000 people in the cities of Mosul and Bagh
The Special Inspector-General of Iraq Reconstruction said precautionary measures taken to remedy the problem have failed.
The Mosul dam on the northern Tigris River was build in1984 in an area that is known for sinkholes.
