Chechnya returns to normal life

Russia's southern republic of Chechnya has suffered two devastating wars, with the second conflict ending in 2001. Since then the region has been trying to rebuild and return to a peaceful way of life.

Mass reconstruction is underway in the republic.

Almost a thousand apartment blocks, 20 schools and four hospitals have been rebuilt in Chechnya’s capital, Grozny, over the last year. 200 kilometres of roads and 14 bridges were repaired.

Chechens, who went abroad to escape the war, are now coming back to their homes.

And people hope that after the Parliamentary Election their republic will continue to improve.
