South Carolina gun store wants “to piss off Obama”

South Carolina gun store wants “to piss off Obama”

A gun store in Simpsonville, South Carolina, is using President Barack Obama to increase gun sales in a controversial marketing campaign which reads "Want to piss off Obama? Buy a gun."

Simpsonville Gun and Pawn put up the sign following the US President’s call for tougher gun regulations.

The aim of the evocative message is to sell guns while getting a political message across.

“It’s mainly just to sell guns, but there’s a little bit of political connotation to it also,” Mark Teal, owner of the store, told WSPA news.

“I just think it’s strange that he has 24 hour security, his children and wife have 24 hour security with armed guards everywhere they go (and) it’s ok for them to have armed guards, but it’s not ok for us to protect ourselves,” said Teal.

Following a shooting in  San Bernardino Obama called for those on the US no-fly list to be banned from buying guns. The attack that took lives of 14 people and wounded 21 others is being investigated as an act of terrorism after FBI discovered the couple was “radicalized”.

Every time the US is struck with a mass shooting a debate about the right to buy guns is ignited, without leading to any changes to the legislation.

Gun sales have increased throughout Obama's presidency, and Americans have purchased 100 million firearms during his term in office.

The FBI processed a record number, 185,345, background checks for gun sales on Black Friday.
