At least 2 dead in shootout in Rowland Heights, California

At least two people have been killed during a shooting in Rowland Heights, Los Angeles county, California, local police reported.

Four people were shot and two of those people died of their injuries, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, as cited by NBC.

The incident was reported at 8:38 p.m. local time Thursday (0338 GMT Friday) in the 2200 block of Batson Avenue, according to the LA County Sheriff’s Department’s Walnut station.

Elsewhere across the US, another shooting was reported during New Year Eve’s celebrations: an unidentified man opened fire at a party in New Orleans, Louisiana, wounding five people, local police press secretary Frank Robertson said, as quoted by RIA Novosti.

The shots were fired from a dark-colored car that drove up to the party location at around 9pm Thursday (0200 GMT Friday).

The victims are from 15 to 22 years old, and have been taken to local hospitals. One of the victims is in critical condition, according to NBC.

Police are investigating.

Security sources data has demonstrated that over 450 people were killed by guns across the US during 2015, according to WLS radio.
