Over 6,000 pose nude for group photo in Colombia (PHOTOS, VIDEO, NSFW)

The Colombian city of Bogota wasn’t a place for the shy when over 6,000 Colombians volunteered to pose naked for a group photograph in the capital’s main square – all in the name of art.

Despite the chilly Sunday morning, with temperatures hovering around 8° Celsius (46° F), thousands still turned out for the photo shoot, eager to strip down to their birthday suits for artist Spencer Tunick.

Needless to say, the photos are a little NSFW.

Having photographed thousands of naked bodies in public spaces, Tunick is renowned for such shoots, but this was his biggest gathering in six years, and it created some impressive, albeit curious, sights for passers-by.

Shot in the Plaza Bolivar in the heart of Bogotá’s historical district, the participants were surrounded by history with the Cathedral of Bogotá, Palace of Justice, and National Capitol all on the square’s perimeter.

The participants also seemed to enjoy the day’s naked frolics, with one, Miguel Patino, telling Metro that he found it “liberating.”

“At that one moment everyone is naked and everyone is equal,” Patino said.

“When everyone is in the same naked condition, personally, it makes me feel comfortable," he added. "It breaks down the taboos and barriers that are imposed by wearing clothes.”
