Leicester to land sought-after CSKA Moscow striker Musa for club-record fee – reports

English Premier League champions Leicester City have agreed a fee for CSKA Moscow’s Nigerian striker Ahmed Musa, according to reports.

The player's agent, Tony Harris, has said that the player will join Leicester this week, BBC Sport reports.  

"Everything has been finalised and Musa will be in England for his medical on Wednesday," Harris said.

The move has long been discussed, but the clubs are now believed to have agreed a fee in the region of around £16 million (US$ 21 million), which would be a club-record for Leicester, according to ESPN FC. 

CSKA manager Leonid Slutsky told Russian media on the weekend that Musa will head to England on Tuesday to finalize the deal.

Slutsky predicted that Musa would do well with his new club:"If you look at the way things are done over there, you'll see he is a player just made for English football."

Musa has reportedly rejected advances from Southampton, Everton and West Ham in favor of joining the Foxes as they seek to retain the Premier League title they won in remarkable fashion last season.

Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri has moved quickly to bolster his squad during the summer transfer window, signing French midfielder Nampalys Mendy, striker Raul Uche Rubio, centre-back Luis Hernandez, and goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler.

Star striker Jamie Vardy has also agreed a new deal to stay at the club after rejecting a move to rivals Arsenal.

Leicester will make their debut in the UEFA Champions League next season – something which is sure to have been a big draw for Musa, who knows the competition well from his time at CSKA.

The 23-year-old Nigerian forward joined the Moscow club in 2012, and last season scored 18 goals in 44 appearances, TASS reports.

He has played 58 times for the Nigerian national team, scoring 11 times.
