‘Prosecute lying politicians... including Boris!’ Crowdfunders raise £27K for Brexit legal challenge

Brexiteers beware. A crowdfunding page determined to prosecute those who supposedly engineered the “Leave” vote with spin and lies has already raised nearly £30,000.

The Brexit Justice page claims to be a “volunteer run crowdfunding campaign” with the sole aim of funding “legal action in order to bring justice to dishonest politicians and challenge Brexit in the courts!”

The campaign aims to “prosecute vote leave leaders based upon fraud, misconduct in public office, undue influence and, possibly, inciting racial hatred.”

Founded by activist Marcus Ball, the campaign says it will do this by funding a “judicial review and other legal action to prevent Brexit.”

It also wants to “ensure that Article 50 will not be triggered without an Act of Parliament.”

It is claimed that lawyers willing to work at “a fraction of their normal fees” have already agreed to take up the case, but the campaign says “we are not yet at liberty to name them.”

The campaign names a number of leading Brexiteers among its targets. These include new Tory Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, former education secretary Michael Gove, one-time Conservative leadership hopeful Andrea Leadsom, and ex-UKIP boss Nigel Farage.

Brexit Justice aims to raise at least £100,000 to fund the cases and admits victory is by no means guaranteed.

“This will be a challenging endeavour,” the group concedes on its website.

“However, if we can combine a successful funding campaign with the best legal minds in the country and the advantage afforded by intense public pressure to pursue justice it is possible that we could win our cases,” the organizers say.
