US Army pegs Clinton as ‘insider threat’ during OPSEC training
The Army confirms a photo of Hillary Clinton was part of a lineup of “insider threats” for an Operations Security (OPSEC) training class. The lineup included whistleblowers Edward Snowden and Chelsea Manning, as well as two mass murderers.
The photo of the Democratic presidential candidate appeared on an OPSEC training slide entitled: “Who is the Threat? Insiders.”
“We have confirmed that the slide was developed 18 months ago and used locally as a part of a training presentation on best practices for handling classified material and maintaining operational security,” Army Maj. Thomas Campbell, US Army Training and Doctrine Command spokesperson, told the Daily Caller News Foundation.
A service member stationed at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri leaked the picture to a Facebook page called “US Army WTF! Moments” on August 21. The post had more than 6,000 shares by Tuesday evening and 380 comments.
The slide has since been removed following an exposé by the Daily Caller.
“As is common with Army training requirements, the local unit was given latitude to develop their own training products to accomplish the overall training objective,” Campbell added. “This particular presentation had not been reviewed or approved by the unit’s leadership, and does not reflect the position of the Army. The training presentation has since been removed.”
The slide of “Insiders” shows pictures of two mass murderers - Army psychiatrist Nidal Hassan, who shot 13 dead and injured 30 others during a mass shooting at Fort Hood, Texas, the largest mass shooting on a military base in the US, and Aaron Alexis, who shot 12 and injured three during a shooting at the Washington Navy Yard.
Hassan appears alongside whistleblowers Chelsea Manning and Edward Snowden. Underneath is former CIA director and four star general David Petraeus, who lied to the FBI about having classified material and sharing it with a mistress.
Alongside Petraeus is former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, whom FBI Director James Comey said he would not be recommending criminal charges for to the Department of Justice, despite her “extremely careless” handling of classified materials.
