German gangsta-robber sends greetings from Moscow

German gangsta-rapper Xatar, wanted by Interpol after he and his accomplices held up guards carrying gold, has sent greetings from Moscow to his friends.

On his page on Facebook the 28-year-old rapper also criticized the Russian capital for the high cost of living.

Peter Wiedenhorn, a spokesman for the German police, said investigators are now shadowing Xatar in Moscow.

Xatar and his friends managed to steal about $2,5 million in December 2009. They dressed as policemen and customs officers and detained a cash-transit guard transporting gold. Then the band put up a sign “follow me” and brought the car to the forest, where they left the driver after taking his gun.

The robbery looks like the plot of the music video “Paragraph 31” by Xatar, where two jeeps hold up a cash-transit guard and the masked rapper forces the driver to leave the van.

In the beginning of February local police carried out a special operation involving about 70 policemen. Two of the alleged criminals were detained, but Xatar managed to escape. However, police found neither money nor gold.
