Police officer fighting for life after being ‘dragged along road in hit & run’

Police officer fighting for life after being ‘dragged along road in hit & run’

A female police officer is in intensive care after being “deliberately” mowed down by a car and dragged along the road in Glasgow on Sunday night.

The 30-year-old officer and her 31-year-old male colleague were attacked when a car they stopped in Drumchapel suddenly reversed.

The two officers were attending an incident when they were “targeted” by the driver at around 11pm.

She is believed to have suffered many broken bones, and is still in a serious condition.

The male officer, who was also injured in the attack, was able to pull her out from under the wheels.

Police say the incident is being treated as attempted murder.

Detective Inspector Ian Hylands told the Daily Record: “Our enquiries so far have revealed that a blue Nissan Qashqai was seen at the location around the time of the incident. A vehicle matching that description has been found badly damaged by fire in Lennox Gardens, Scotstoun.

"However we have yet to confirm if that is the same vehicle. Despite the damage, forensic officers will carry out a comprehensive examination of the car.

“This is an attempted murder on two police officers doing their job,” he added.

Police are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.
