Bank robber busted by posting videos & pics on Instagram

A Virginia Beach man was arrested by local police less than an hour after he allegedly robbed a bank and posted evidence of the incident on Instagram. However, the man insists that what happened was not actually a robbery.

The Monday incident took place at a local TowneBank, when 23-year-old Dominyk Antonio Alfonseca demanded $150,000 from a female teller at approximately 1:40 pm. Virginia Beach police said that after receiving the money, Aflonseca ran out of the bank and started heading south, the local ABC affiliate reported.

Shortly after making it out of the bank, Alfonseca posted an image of the note he had handed the teller on Instargram, along with two videos of the woman gathering stacks of cash and placing them in a bag.

The note read: "I need 150,000 bands right now!! Please police take 3 to 4 minutes to get here, I would appreciate if you ring the alarm a minute after I am gone ... . Make sure the money doesn't BLOW UP ON MY WAY OUT :)"

About 20 minutes after leaving the bank, Alfonseca was arrested.

Despite how the videos and image may look, Alfonseca said he did not actually rob the bank. Rather, he said he simply asked politely for the money.

"I'm basically asking permission for money" in his note, he said to the Virginian-Pilot. "In my eyes I did not commit a robbery, and I feel I'm being charged without reason."

In an interview with WTKR on Wednesday, Alfonseca said he never threatened the teller and that the bank made the decision to give him the money.

“It was clutch time for her," he said, comparing the situation to a basketball game. "She had to make the shot – shoot it or not shoot it, you know what I mean? It either goes in or it doesn’t. She could’ve said ‘no’ and I could’ve left.”

Asked if he really would have left the bank after being denied, Alfonseca replied, “Of course. What I was going to do?”

Finally, during his interview with WTKR, Alfonseca gave a “shout out” to singers Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga, as well as First Lady Michelle Obama.
