Three spacemen leave ISS and hit the Earth
The Russian Soyuz spacecraft with three crewmen from the International Space Station on board has successfully landed in the steppe of Kazakhstan.
According to Russian Space Services, three planes, twelve helicopters, six search-and-rescue vehicles, three communication vehicles, five tank trucks and auxiliary vehicles are on hand to evacuate the crew.
Russian Roman Romanenko, Belgian Frank de Winne and Canadian Robert Thirsk are back on Earth after spending six months on the International Space Station’s 21st mission.
De Winne is the first ever European commander of the ISS. Russian Romanenko is the second second-generation cosmonaut in history.
They have traveled more than 115 million kilometers while orbiting the earth.
In spring, all three spacemen were part of the first enlarged orbital mission – consisting of six people.
The Space Station is now run by American astronaut Jeffrey Williams and Russian cosmonaut Maksim Suraev.
The next international mission will blast off for the ISS before Christmas.
