Flood damages Russian gas pipeline in Georgia

Georgian television reports that one of the branches of the Russian gas pipeline to Georgia has been damaged. The channel says mudslides caused by heavy rains have blocked one of the rivers in Georgia's northern Kazbek region.

The river then flooded, damaging part of the pipeline.

The Georgian's President's representative in the region says the incident hasn't affected gas supplies to Georgia.

“The specialists will arrive to determine what should be done. And we will mobilise all the necessary equipment and will act according to the situation. We've found out about this situation fairly recently. All of our incident teams have been mobilised,” said Vasil Maglaperidze, Governor of the Mtskheta-Mtianti region.
