Peatland fires under control: Russia's Emergency Ministry

Russia's Emergency Ministry says it's got the peat fires near Moscow and in other regions under control. But the situation near the city of Ryazan is still worrying. There are around 12 islands of fire.

While in the Vladimir region there are 16 places where flames have not been put out.

In all, some 1200 firefighters are working to extinguish the flames.
