Russia might join UK to investigate Litvinenko’s death

The Russian prosecutor’s office said it is willing to fully co-operate with the British authorities to investigate Alexandr Litvinenko’s death. This statement has followed the British Prime Minister's speech.

The statement on Russian side came after British Prime Minister Tony Blair said that “there is no diplomatic barrier in the way of the investigation into the death of Alexandr Litvinenko”.

Russian prosecutor’s office and Britain's Crown Prosecution Service recently signed a co-operation deal. As a result, Russian officials say they would welcome any visit to Moscow by British investigators. More to this, such visits could be of much importance not only for British investigators, but also for their Russian counterparts. 

“We have to know the technical details and I think that Scotland Yard is more or less objective. It will give us some technical details and we may judge. In my personal opinion, it is mainly Russian tycoons who are very hateful, and of course they could organize this kind of a matter,” said Alexandr Nagorny, the political analyst and editor of Russian newspaper “Zavtra”, sharing with RT his opinion on who could be behind Alexandr Litvinenko's death.

An inquest into Alexandr Litvinenko’s death is due to open on Thursday and a post mortem is expected to take place on Friday.

Meanwhile, the radioactive substance Polonium 210 has now been discovered at six locations in London.
