Wave of violence continues in Ingushetia

On Tuesday night, Abdurahman Neyriyev, a senior police officer was killed in a village in the Sunzha district of the republic. Several gunmen opened fire as he was leaving a mosque.

On Wednesday, a car with police officers was attacked in the city of Nazran. Two were killed and two more wounded.

The rise of violence is said to have started in July when an ethnic Russian woman and her children were murdered in an Ingush village.

Later a bomb exploded at their funeral. Thankfully no one was killed.

In the last few weeks around 12 attacks have been carried out on police stations, military officers and civilians, resulting in ten people killed and dozens wounded.
