Rescuers scramble to save ship in Caspian sea

Rescuers are searching for a Russian ship in distress in the Caspian Sea. On board the cargo vessel Kamyust-1 were 12 crew members, whose fate is unknown.

The Russian Transport Ministry says the ship did not send any distress signals and radio contact with it was lost eight days ago.

The Ministry claims the owner company was informed of the situation and is responsible for the five-day delay in starting the rescue operations for the ship.  that was carrying steel to Iran.

The vessel was carrying over two tonnes of steel and was bound for Iran.
