Interview with Dmitry Babich

Early presidential elections are to take place in two months in Georgia. Dmitry Babich from Russia Profile magazine says it's uncertain what form the process will take, as the rules have changed in each of the previous ballots.

He says Georgia has a dubious record of changing its presidents – with the vote that put Mikhail Saakashvili in power being no exception.

Then Saakasvili won 96% of the vote, and Babich says he doubts the result of this election, because even in the former Soviet Union a very popular person wouldn’t get such a result:

“Well, 96% is too much for a fair election,” he said.
