Swine flu kills 10 in Russia

The swine flu death toll in Russia has reached 10 people, according to official sources.

Russia’s consumer watchdog reported that most deaths, including one pregnant woman, occurred in Siberia. One patient died in Moscow. The doctors blamed the fatal cases on the fact that the patients took too much time to turn for professional medical help – it happened on the third or even on the fifth day since the symptoms first began.

The Deputy Minister of Health and Social Development has said earlier that the H1N1 virus was responsible for almost 80 percent of all present flu cases in Russia.

The Russian news agency RIA Novosti reports that currently about 2,000 Russian are diagnosed with the swine flu. The agency said that due to the situation, vaccination against H1N1 virus was moved from beginning of December to November 9.

All Russian vaccine producers have reportedly received their certificates and started mass production.
