China helpless against Russia in FIVB World Grand Prix

The Russian women’s volleyball squad have thrashed hosts China in their last game of the second stage of the FIVB World Grand Prix.

The packed stadium shouting for the home players was not enough to shake the World Champions’ confidence as Russia cruised to straight set 3-0 (25:22, 25:23, 25:20) victory.  After the game, Russia's coach Vladimir Kuzyutkin said that both teams played well and would be better in the future. Last time, China beat Russia 3-1 in the President’s Cup. But with the return of Gamova this time, Russia was reinforced. But the team would not rely mainly on Gamova. There were other excellent players, such as Goncharova and Makhno, FIBV official website reports.  The result saw the Russians grabbing the sole lead in the World Grand Prix standing, with six wins out six matches and just one set given away.   Japan, South Korea and Serbia will become Russia’s opponents in the third stage, which is to take place in Tokyo on August 19–21. Special Administrative Region of China, Macau, will host the World Grand Prix final at the end of the month.
