Malkin on fire as Penguins beat Flyers

The Pittsburgh Penguins’ Evgeni Malkin, who was recently awarded the Art Ross Trophy, continues to dominate in the NHL play-offs with his team’s 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday, April 17.

On Friday night the Penguins’ star contributed to all of his side’s goals, emerging victorious over the Flyers in overtime.

So far, the brilliant Russian has picked up three points and now has two goals and three assists from two playoff contests this post-season, which certainly makes a case for him being the best player of the Stanley Cup.

Russia’s achievements on Friday night, however, were not limited just to Malkin.

Evgeni’s teammate Sergei Gonchar also picked up two assists in the contest against the Flyers and helped the Pittsburg side to establish a 2-0 lead in the series, while fellow Russian Sergei Samsonov’s assist helped the Carolina Hurricanes crash the New Jersey Devils’ resistance 2-1 on the road and draw the series at one apiece.
