Premier League: Muscovites in search of first win

FC Moscow against Spartak Moscow is the most eye-catching clash on Saturday. But while Spartak's win last week gave their fans something to cheer about, FC Moscow is yet to celebrate their first victory.

New season, new coach and new formation – this season Miodrag Bozovic's FC Moscow plays with two men up front. But that hasn't helped them too much. The Moscuvites are one of the three Premier League clubs who haven't scored a goal in this campaign.

However, Bozovic denies this puts any extra pressure on the Muscovites.

“The players are in a good mood, they know they will score sooner or later. It's only the media that pays too much attention to it. For me, the important thing is that we are playing good passing football,” he says.

The head coach's main attacking duo is Hector Bracamonte and Martin Yakubko.

The Argentine is the club's veteran, having played 135 games since joining FC Moscow in 2004. Bracamonte was the Muscovites’ top scorer last season and put himself on the score sheet in both games against Spartak Moscow.

His partner, Yakubko, is the club's winter signing. The strong and aggressive forward is no stranger to the Russian top division, having Saturn and Khimki as his previous clubs.

The Slovakian thinks Spartak is the right team for FC Moscow to break their poor record.

“Off course, Spartak is one of the best clubs in Russia. They love to play end-to-end football, and this is our chance. That will allow us to create scoring opportunities, we just can’t afford to waste them,” says Yakubko.

Last season FC Moscow shocked Spartak on its home turf, coming from a goal down to record a 2-1 win. And their fans certainly won't mind seeing the same result in 2009.
