Four militants killed by police in Grozny shootout

Four suspected militants have been shot dead by police in the Chechen capital Grozny. The authorities claim they have foiled a series of planned terrorist attacks across Chechnya.

The Chechen police say the suspects were connected to Friday's terrorist act, which claimed the lives of two police officers in the capital.

The four suspected militants reportedly opened fire when the police tried to detain them. All were killed in a counterattack.

The criminals were allegedly plotting multiple terrorist attacks across the Republic.

Earlier, commenting on Friday’s incident, Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov said he would have no mercy for the terrorists.

The events shake the Republic exactly one month after the long-lasting federal counter-terrorism operation in Chechnya was ended.
