‘Dancing’ planes land safely in Spain despite heavy storm (VIDEO)

Storm winds in norther Spain set 10 passenger planes dancing in the air. A major catastrophe was averted only thanks to pilots’ courage and professionalism.

When gusts of wind reaching 87 mph hit Spain’s northern counties, most airports closed down, sending planes awaiting permission to land back where they came from. The Bilbao airport, however, continued to receive flights – a decision that nearly ended in tragedy. A video shot at the scene shows around ten passenger planes struggling to land, being repeatedly knocked around by the strong gusts of wind. While bigger planes had less difficulty landing, small ones were thrown back and forth once they managed to touch the ground. Luckily, no victims were reported – but the passengers are sure to have had a most memorable experience.
