Litvinenko's alleged killer slams British media

Andrey Lugovoy, Britain's main suspect in the murder of Aleksandr Litvinenko, denies he may have been an unwitting assassin. Lugovoy was responding to a theory put forward in a BBC programme shown on Sunday called “Britain’s Most Wanted”. The

The documentary suggested Lugovoy might have poured a substance into the former security officer's tea, unaware it was radioactive.  He may have believed it was a psychotropic substance or “truth drug”, the film said.

Lugovoy says the allegations are absurd.

“First, I haven’t seen the film yet. So, I can only make statements relating to the agency wires that I have read. Their statements that I was used at random are absolute rubbish and imbecility. I’m a professional and have never let anyone use me in any way,” Lugovoy said.

According to him, the BBC film revealed nothing but the conjectures of the British secret services.

Lugovoy said the BBC again demonstrated the complete failure of the British secret services.

He added that the investigation of the British police has reached a dead end.

“They are even short of dodgy ideas to explain their impotence. Therefore, I say rather categorically that all these fabrications of BBC are nonsense,” he said.
