Blasts kill 11 in Pakistan

At least eleven people have been killed in two blasts in the city of Peshawar, north-west Pakistan. Attackers hit a market and a police checkpoint.

It comes just hours after the Taliban claimed responsibility for Wednesday’s bomb blast in the city of Lahore. The group said it was revenge for the government’s offensive against militants in the northwestern Swat Valley.

The government says it will continue the operation which has seen over 1,000 militants killed so far.

The Former president of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf said in an interview with RT that he believes the country can defeat the Taliban:

“Pakistan armed forces are fighting Taliban in their own interest. This is a misperception that everyone creates that I was fighting because Bush had told me”.
