“Afghan insurgents try to delegitimize government ahead of election”

They are trying to show the Afghan people the government can’t provide the security it had promised, and more attacks can be expected in the coming weeks, Cato Institute analyst Malou Innocent told RT.

The United Nations Security Council is gathering for a special session on Afghanistan, a day after Taliban militants attacked a guest house in Kabul, killing at least five UN staff.

The situation in neighboring Pakistan, where a car bomb killed over 100 people on Wednesday, is also on the agenda.
