Causes of deadly mine blasts identified

Russian officials have disclosed the causes of the deadly explosions at the Raspadskaya mine in Siberia in May.

First and foremost, the blasts were caused by "violation of safety regulations.” This is according to a 16-page report issued by Russia's Technical Supervisory Authority. The document also identifies the constructor of the mine as one of those responsible for the two explosions. However, the official investigation into the accident is not yet over. The prosecution says that today's report will only be used as evidence.Back in May, 75 people were killed and more than 100 injured in two explosions that rocked one of Russia's largest coal mines. The fate of another 16 people is still unknown, the RIA Novosti news agency reported.
