“Germany thankful to the USSR for ending the Cold War”

The German people are thankful to the Soviet Union for the end of the Cold War, says Dr Hans-Henning Schroder, a professor at the University of Bremen.

“At least here in Germany we think that the Soviet Union … made the unification real… They could have stopped the process like they did in 1968 in Czechoslovakia but they didn’t,” Dr Schroder told RT.

He also said that Russia shares a common history and culture with Europe and in the future their ties should become even closer:

“Russia and Europe will have to build a sort of wider Europe to be together in this global world,” he added.
