Suicide attack rocks Russia’s republic of Ingushetia

A suicide bomb attack in Russia’s southern republic of Ingushetia has left several people killed and injured, according to the republic’s Interior ministry, as reported by the Russian Tass news agency.

Initial reports said a car packed with explosives crashed into a police station near the city of Nazran, followed by a powerful explosion.

Tass reports two people were killed and four are being treated in hospital with varying degrees of injuries.

Neighbouring buildings were reportedly damaged in the explosion and the blast was followed by a shoot-out.

The Interfax news agency cites the republic’s President, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, as saying local police have been placed on high alert.

Last month, 25 people were killed and more than one hundred injured in another suicide bombing in the republic.
