“The development of trade will end protectionism”

Yury Shcherbanin, an analyst from the Diplomatic Academy in Moscow, thinks that the worst of the crisis is behind, so the growth of production and trade will normalize the global market situation.

“All countries during the economic and financial crisis period in general try to protect, to defend, to control their domestic market,” Shcherbanin said. “Most nations believe the worst of the crisis is past us, so the industrial production supply, the demand has to increase. In these circumstances new trade flows, new cargos, new goods appear. In my opinion, the development of trade will end protectionism. And also, I would like to stress the importance of the WTO meetings, which have to take some positive steps to develop international trade.”
