Iraq vet: US needs the media to ask tough questions

Iraq war vet and congressional candidate Adam Kokesh explains why the US media environment needs a channel that will speak out on the issues.

Flip through the channels on your tv, and it seem the choice is endless, but the choice of perspectives is not. In the US,  there is a growing demand among viewers for a greater diversity of perspectives in television news.

Iraq veteran Adam Kokesh is taking the matter into his own hands and is making his voice heard, by heading to Washington. The controversial anti-war advocate recently announced that he is running for Congress in New Mexico’s 3rd district. The Republican is pushing for less government and major changes in Washington’s political scene.

“Both parties are so grossly misrepresented by their national leadership, that we have more in common with each other than anyone in Washington,” said Kokesh.

The political arena is a fairly new scene for the Iraq veteran. While this is his first stab at campaigning, some say he continues to put his best foot forward by being upfront with his views. Democrats may
right him off, but others say his movement for less government may be perfect timing.

Although he has not received much support from the major news outlets, he continues to move forward with a grassroots campaign. From bloggers to independent media outlets, Kokesh relies on other publicity venues to send out his message.
