Moscow’s fire chief killed in blaze

On Saturday Moscow's chief firefighter died while rescuing people from a blazing business center.

Yevgeny Chernyshov was last heard when he radioed in that he was running low on oxygen and was trying to find a way out of the burning building, reports the Itar-Tass news agency, citing the Russian Emergencies Ministry.

Chernyshev was presumably killed when part of the roof collapsed.

The fire started at about 5 PM Moscow time on the ground floor of the building, but then quickly spread onto the upper levels, to a total area of 1800 square meters.

About 20 fire teams worked to put out the flames. 6 people have been rescued, reports Itar Tass.

The fire has now been put out. At the moment, investigators are looking into what caused the fire.
