Suicide bomber attacks CIA base in Afghanistan

A suicide car bomber has killed one person and injured two security guards outside a CIA base in eastern Afghanistan’s Khost province. A US Army spokesman says the bomber blew himself up before entering the base.

It is the same location where the US intelligence agency suffered one of the most lethal attacks in its history in December last year.

The suicide bomber was in a vehicle packed with explosives, a statement released by the Afghan Interior Ministry said.

It comes at the height of Afghanistan’s opium poppy harvest, which helps fund the Taliban.
