Police detain suspected organizer of twin blasts in Southern Russia

Police in Russia’s southern republic of Dagestan have arrested one of the suspected masterminds behind the terrorist attacks that hit the republic’s city of Kizlyar on March 31.

Pakhrutdin Akhmedov was detained after the car in which he was traveling with two other men was stopped for a document inspection.

The men were carrying a pistol, bullets and a grenade.

Akhmedov is alleged to be behind the two suicide attacks that claimed lives of ten people and left 37 injured.

The first blast went off when a suicide bomber blew himself up in a moving car. About 15 minutes later, when investigators arrived on the scene, another suicide bomber dressed as a policeman rushed into the crowd and detonated an explosive vest.
