Peacekeepers should be sent into Kyrgyzstan regardless - analyst

Kyrgyzstan is in mourning for those killed during days of ethnic violence. In response to the situation, members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization are deciding whether they should send peacekeepers there.

Mikhail Stolyarov, a political analyst, is sure that Russia should send its troops to help the interim government in Kyrgyzstan. But he added that this should be a collective decision.

“I do believe that this Collective Security Treaty Organization should take a joint decision on this very important issue, because Russia shouldn’t do it alone (send forces), as it can get into the trap,” the analyst stressed.

Peacekeeper troops should be sent there anyway, he thinks, as the situation is not stable.

Stolyarov added that the forces should be formed on the basis of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
