Russian army shows off technical refit

Some serious military hardware has lined up just outside Moscow for a purely promotional, reason which is Engineering Technology Forum 2010, an umbrella title for an exhibition of a military nature.

The military exhibition is being held at the very same place where the annual international air show MAKS takes place.

All the latest Russian military hardware and vehicles have been collected in one place to showcase the cutting edge of the modern Russian arsenal.

The last two days of the exhibition are reserved for public viewing, while during the week, the business event was for professionals only. The international arms market, with all of its controversies, is a very competitive one, with big slices of national budgets thrown into it and Russia has traditionally been one of the leaders of it, beating off ferocious competition.

This new exhibition is designed to serve Russia’s interests on the arms market and to showcase what new weapons systems Russia is developing, both on its own and in conjunction with other countries.

The show also serves as public relations for the Russian army, which now has a platform to demonstrate to Russian citizens how it is changing technologically.
