Medvedev harvests potatoes during drought inspection
President Dmitry Medvedev has inspected Russia’s agri-industrial complex in the Voronezh region and personally harvested three potato crops.
This year’s drought in Russia deprived farmers of any hopes for a good harvest in areas where the fields were not artificially irrigated.
The government and the president himself have put into place a special program of financial aid for major agricultural complexes which were affected by the unprecedented heat that lasted for over a month this summer.
