Bike bomb kills 10, wounds 18 in Afghanistan

Violence again hit Afghanistan, with a motorcycle bomb attack in a crowded market in the northern part of the country that killed 10 people and wounded 18 others.

Authorities believe the intended target was a local police chief who died in the explosion. The lives of three children were also claimed by the motorcycle bomb blast.Earlier, a major NATO base in eastern Afghanistan was also targeted by militants.Up to eight of the attackers were killed as soldiers repelled the attack. The unrest may not be receding, but the US is continuing with its plans to gradually withdraw troops from Afghanistan starting next July.RT's military contributor Col. Evgeny Khrushchev says Washington's self-imposed deadline may ring hollow.
